Family Mourns Death of Cocoa Mom, Suffers More Tragedy

COCOA, Fla. — The family of a missing Cocoa woman, whose body was found in Osceola County, Friday, says they’re trying to wrap their heads around what happened.

  • Tashaun Jackson’s body was found Friday
  • Family suspects disappearance may be connected to case
  • Police are not making that connection officially

Tashaun Jackson, 31, was last seen last Saturday around 3 p.m. after taking a trip to a nearby 7-Eleven. She never returned.

Detectives found Jackson’s body Friday after an aerial search was conducted in the area of Nova Road and Deer Park Road, in a remote area of Osceola County.

Nova Road is still closed in that area.

Detectives and crime scene technicians are at the rural Osceola County scene. Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, and the Florida Dept. of Law Enforcement are assisting Cocoa Police.

Jackson’s family has been very vocal since her disappearance last weekend in leading the search.

They contend that her disappearance could be connected to a deposition she gave two weeks ago in an attempted rape case.

However, Cocoa Police have not made that connection officially.

To compound the tragedy, Jackson’s family says that, shortly after getting news of her death, her father was struck by a car and killed.
