How wedded are the Bucs to Jameis Winston?

The Bucs say they are committed to Jameis Winston.

It’s why they brought in “quarterback whisperer” Bruce Arians as their new head coach.

Why Arians quickly announced that the Bucs were Winston’s team.

Why they let Ryan Fitzpatrick leave for the Dolphins and signed Blaine Gabbert and Ryan Griffin as backups.

Why they didn’t take a quarterback in last month’s draft.

But how does their level of commitment compare to other NFL teams?

Bottom third of the league, according to ESPN’s Dan Graziano.

Graziano ranks the Bucs tied for 20th on his list of NFL teams’ commitments to their current quarterbacks.

“I’m a Bruce Arians believer, so I’m predicting big things for Winston this season,” Graziano writes. But on the off chance ol’ Bruce can’t help Jameis solve his pesky problem of handing the ball to the opposing defense, the Bucs are free and clear after this season. As long as they don’t extend his contract in the meantime.”

Graziano focused primarily on each quarterback’s contract situation — how much guaranteed money is left on the deal, for how many years, etc.

Winston is guaranteed roughly $21 million this season after the Bucs picked up the fifth-year option on his rookie deal.

Tied with the Bucs at No. 20 are the Tennessee Titans.

Graziano also placed quarterbacks into tiers based on their contract situations. Winston, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2015 draft, is tied for third in the “prove-it time” tier, along with Tennesee’s Marcus Mariota, who was drafted one spot behind him. Oakland’s Derek Carr and San Francisco’s Jimmy Garoppolo are Nos. 1-2.
