7 at Miami-Dade Detention Center Hospitalized After ‘Medical Emergency’
Several inmates and corrections officers at the Miami-Dade Detention Center were hospitalized after a “medical emergency” Tuesday night, fire officials said.
City of Miami Fire Rescue officials said they received a call at around 8 p.m. about four inmates experiencing symptoms of nausea and vomiting.
Four inmates and three corrections officers were transported to a hospital in stable conditions, fire officials said.
It’s unclear what caused the medical emergency. A hazardous materials team investigated the area the patients were in and ruled out any chemical and carbon monoxide issues.
